Shacked is a free, lightweight surf forecasting app built for travelling surfers who want accurate conditions — fast, without the noise.
I built Shacked because I wanted a lightweight surf app that is structured, clean and easy to use. Unlike most of the competition, the goal was always to keep it simple and straightforward — no cluttered dashboards, no paywalled basics, no learning curve.
The focus is the travelling surfer. Someone who lands in a new country, opens their phone, and needs to know — in under ten seconds — whether it's worth paddling out. They don't need a complex tool with 40 data layers. They need a fast, accurate forecast for the break in front of them.
So that's what Shacked is. Live conditions updated every 15 minutes, a clean 10-day forecast, tide charts, wind, swell direction — everything that matters, nothing that doesn't. Free, always.
Wave height, swell period, swell direction and sea surface temperature from Open-Meteo's marine API — updated every 15 minutes.
Live wind speed, gusts and direction from Open-Meteo's atmospheric forecast model, with 10-day hourly breakdown.
Accurate tide predictions from WorldTides — high/low times, tidal range, and a visual tide curve for each spot.
On-demand surf reports generated by Claude, personalised to your skill level — beginner, intermediate, advanced or pro.
460+ breaks across 30+ countries — from world-class point breaks to hidden beach breaks. If it's worth surfing, chances are it's in Shacked.
